Abbeycroft Leisure are proud to support The Festival of Suffolk by sharing what we do at a Business Sector Open Day.
We work for the whole community, providing quality facilities and opportunities to lead a healthier, active lifestyle, across 18 facilities in Suffolk.
As a not-for-profit social enterprise, we re-invest any financial surplus back into our services.
What goes in – stays in!
We are looking to showcase the huge breadth of opportunities within our sector and are looking forward to meeting you on Friday 1st July.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO SEE?
Abbeycroft Leisure are working with the team organising the Festival of Suffolk to engage schools with business. We are promoting all that is good about the Health, Fitness and Wellbeing industry and are inviting schools to participate in a day where students can see what working in this industry is all about. This will provide students to see a range of career pathways that are not well known and we are fortunate to be working with a range of partners to give participants the best opportunity to understand how this sector works. The sessions will be split into the morning and afternoon with a range of workshops (1.5 hours duration) available to students themed as follows;
Architecture led by Saunders Boston Architects – If students have an aptitude for design and are considering a career in architecture then this workshop is for them. This session will be led by Nathan Swift, one of the most experienced leisure architects in the country, and will not only showcase the career path but also how leisure centres are designed.
Marketing & Social Media led by TA6– TA6 are sector specialists and support organisations to achieve their business goals through a wide range of support, including social media, sales , advertising and marketing campaign management. This session will showcase how services are marketed alongside the career path. For those students who are looking to start a career in marketing these sessions are not to be missed
Physiotherapy led by Allied Health Professionals Suffolk – Allied Health Professionals Suffolk are a social enterprise in that specialise in physiotherapy. They are embedded in the health system and have developed a number of programmes to support wellbeing. They are constantly developing their staff and working to encourage new people to enter this career path. Students with an interest in sports and exercise science may find this session a useful insight into this career path.
Health & Wellbeing led by Abbeycroft Leisure – Individuals health and wellbeing has never been so important and Abbeycroft Leisure’s health and wellbeing team operate a number of initiatives to ensure people lead a happier healthier life. The team support initiatives that assist people with both their physical and mental health and students with an interest in this area will be able to see how broad the opportunity is.
Outdoor Pursuits led aby Explore Outdoors – The Explore Outdoor Team support everything from Forest Schools through to expeditions to Mount Snowdon, climbing and in recent years have also been educating families about the importance of the outdoors, food and cooking skills. The session will involve physical activity and will interest students that enjoy the outdoors will find this a fascinating insight into this career.
